How To Stitch A Saved Video On Tiktok

In 2020 TikTok implemented a new tool that allows users to collaborate with each other's clips calling it a Stitch. The Stitch tool, as the name suggests, allows users to tag on their own video around an upload by another user to add or react to their content.

The Stitch feature is noticeably different from the other collaboration technique of dueting where users add to the content in unison, Stitching has been used by some of the creative stars of the platform to tell a whole story going back and forth, or for that meme goodness, TikTok is known for.

In this article, we'll break down everything you need to know about how the feature works so you can get creating and collaborating with other users today.

How to Stich on TikTok

Firstly, if you're wanting to Stitch back and forth with other creators, or have them use your content as a base then you'll need to enable Stitching in your profile settings.

  • Navigate to the Me tab and then select the three dots in the top right corner.
  • From here select Privacy.
  • Tap the option that says "Who can Stitch with your videos" and change it from No One to either Friends or Everyone depending on your preference.

You can even change this setup on a case-to-case basis within the settings of your posts so you can choose which that users can Stitch to and the ones they can't.

Once you've sorted that here's how you can go about Stitching to other users' content.

  • First, find the video you cant to collaborate with.
  • Tap the send arrow on the right side of the screen.
  • Select the Stitch option from the bottom menubar.
  • Your next step is to scroll through the video and select clip where you can edit down the original content to just the parts you want to use.
  • Once you've done that its your turn to record your section of the clip.
  • After you record your part you can edit as usual, but you won't be able to add any sound from the TikTok sound library for your creation.
  • In the editing stage, you can ad voiceover, text, stickers, filters, effects, everything you need to glam up your work.
  • The last thing you have to do is give the video a caption and tap share, then the work will be out there for the world to see!

One thing worth noting is that if a user's clip has the Stitch option faded out and unselectable it is because they haven't enabled Stitching on that content and therefore you won't be able to use this feature.
