Some Very Bad Z9 News
I just got off the phone with a customer service rep with B&H and this guy was a veteran with them and put me on hold to speak to a buyer to clarify when there was some chance of my getting my Z9 and 2 lens order fulfilled.
First of all, it was made clear and certain that B&H will NOT be receiving ANY Z9's on their originally projected December 15th arrival (which many of you already doubted of course because of Nikon's December 24th release announcement).
He said the buyer stated they were expecting a very small shipment to arrive in Mid-January that would be nowhere near enough to fill hardly any of the pre orders made to date (nothing mentioned about NPS so I can't say about that).
He said a 2nd shipment was scheduled for mid-March but once again not large numbers. The rep said the way the buyer responded to this question was that "product arrival will occur sometime in 2022" with NO commitments as to WHEN in 2022 be it likely mid or late.
So I guess I can move on and stop even thinking about having a Z9 around. He said if it was him, he wouldn't expect to be seeing it (my order) fulfilled till middle or 3rd quarter of 2022. By then the R1 will be announced and if it's a step up I may switch gears and see what's on the other side. I must say I'm sorely disappointed that all the media scuttlebutt about how they may have begun manufacture as far back as September to prepare for this launch is proven unfounded, sadly. I guess we are indeed in a supply chain crunch and are directly in the midst of it with no relief in sight. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted. Guess I'll go give my R5 and RF glass a hug:-|
